JOYETECH EVIC PRIMO SE VAPE KIT REVIEW

Following fast on the heels of the Evic Primo Mini is another new release from Joyetech, the Evic Primo SE, is basically a condensed version of the Mini with all the same features. Featuring a redesign of the of the previous included tank with the new ProCore SE which features a full glass topcap, its great to see a company that continues to push the envelope in design, functionality, and variety. But the question remains, does the Primo SE live up to everything that was great about the Mini? Or does it fall flat? Let’s find out in the review:

Product Pros

  • Beautiful glass topcap
  • Small footprint that fits a 25mm atomizer

Product Cons

  • Inconvenient to refill
  • Coil change requires tools

Joyetech EVic Primo SE Review: Breakdown

Joyetech EVic Primo SE Color Selection

Build Quality

Anyone familiar with the Evic Primo Mini will be hard pressed to spot any differences with the Primo SE upon first glance. Joyetech basically took the entire design of the Mini and shrunk it down to scale, even condensing the display to fit the tiny frame. Measuring out to a height of 80mm, a width of 25mm which tapers down 21mm, and a length of 38mm, the Primo SE practically vanishes when held in hand. Assembly is also up to par as tolerances on the device are very tight with no audible rattle when shaking the device.

The Primo SE features the same tapered design which improves ergonomics from similarly styled mods that go for a more boxy aesthetic. The carbon fiber inlay provides a nice grippy texture while nicely complementing the variety of colors the device comes in.

The included ProCore SE tank is constructed using a full glass top cap which is beautiful to look at and goes well with the design of the Primo SE. It screws on flush onto the spring loaded 510 pin on top without leaving any gaps which other mods with low quality 510 pins are notorious for. No connection problems exist when using the Primo SE with the included tank or any other atomizers and coil resistance is properly detected without any jumps in the readings.

Vapor Quality

The included ProC1 coil heads do their job well providing satisfying flavor and vapor production especially when coupled with the included tank which features a wide variety of airflow adjustments for vapers to fine tune that draw just to the level they want it.

A minor issue with going with the all glass top cap is the tanks inability to have a top fill option meaning that to refill the tank with juice, the top cap needs to removed and filled up from the bottom then screwing it back on the mod while holding everything upside down which can be inconvenient depending on the setting you’re using it in.

The ProCore SE tank is advertised to carry up to 2mls of juice although I find that it actually can carry up to 4mls of juice which a nice surprise. Looks like Joyetech under promised and over delivered in this regard which is rare when it comes to mods and tanks nowadays.

Another inconvenience with the tank is that it’s coil heads arent meant to be screwed on and off by hand, but require the tool that’s included with the kit to replace the coils easily. This can be cumbersome for those who take their devices on long days out and find the need to replace coils on the go as it means that you’ll have to take the tool along, not to mention the potential of losing the included tool.

Versatility

Despite its tiny size, the Primo SE can accommodate atomizers up to 25mm in diameter without any overhang, meaning it’s a good fit for the majority of tanks and RDAs in the market right now if ever you choose to replace the ProCore SE with something else. It would have been nice to see a RBA coil head included in the kit though as to give users the option of building their own coils if they should ever choose to do so.

For those who prefer temperature control over the standard wattage mode, the Primo SE also delivers with support for stainless steel, nickel, and titanium coils. Another great feature is the ability to set the TCR curve for any specific coil that’s installed in the atomizer with a number of presets which can be saved into the devices memory allowing the Primo SE to memorize your preferred settings for a specific coil.

The Primo SE also delivers a maximum power output of up to 80 watts which is slowly becoming a standard for single 18650 battery devices which is more than enough for most builds, although it should be pointed that vaping a single battery at 80 watts will quickly deplete the battery life and a high quality, high amp battery is required to power this device to it’s full potential.

Portability

The Primo SE vanishes in the palm of your hand and fits in any pocket making taking it anywhere an absolute breeze.

It also has an onboard micro USB charging port which lets you charge the single 18650 at a maximum rate of 2amps which is convenient for those times an external charger isn’t available.

It trumps most devices of this form factor in terms of design, functionality, and compatibility with larger sized atomizers. The battery is also easily replaced with a spare with ease.

Joyetech EVic Primo SE In Hand

Conclusion

The Primo SE is an excellent successor to the Primo Mini. This beautiful small form factor mod packs a punch and looks great doing it as well. The ProCore SE is a great match for the aesthetics of the mod and performs exceptionally well despite the single battery powering it.

Anyone looking for a tiny device that delivers great flavor and clouds that also has a full featured chip that supports temperature control will definitely not regret going with this device and as a proud long time user of the original Joyetech Evic Mini myself, its great to see Joyetech continuously providing new designs and tech for the vaping masses.

IJoy Limitless RDTA Review

iJoy Limitless RDTA Introduction

The iJoy Limitless RDTA is a new rebuildable dripping tank atomiser, produced in conjunction between iJoy and Limitless.

It has a 4ml tank capacity, with a dripper style two post deck above the tank section, and also some of the largest airflow ever seen on a tank coupled with possibly the largest chuff cap ever seen on a tank too!ijoy limitless RDTA review

This looks to be one that cloud chasers will lap up in droves, so with that in mind let’s have a look at what the iJoy Limitless is capable of.

Kit Contents

  • iJoy Limitless RDTA
  • Spare o-rings
  • Drip tip adaptor
  • Spare screws
  • Pre made twisted coilsijoy limitless rdta box

Key Features

  • 24mm diameter
  • True RDTA design
  • 4ml capacity
  • Gold plated 510 connector
  • Hybrid safe
  • Large adjustable airflow
  • Wide bore Delrin chuff cap
  • Can be fully stripped down
  • RDA style two post build deck
  • Side filling port

Build Quality and Design

The iJoy Limitless is constructed of stainless steel with a glass tank section, and it has a hybrid safe, gold plated 510 connection for use with hybrid mech mods, minimizing voltage drop and maximizing the performance.

The top cap is constructed of Delrin and is almost the same width as the whole top cap itself! Airflow is also part of the top cap and is adjusted via turning the top cap to close down and open up two massive airflow slots.ijoy limitless rdta review

The iJoy Limitless can be fully stripped down to clean, and this also then gives unrestricted access to the build deck as well, making it easier to build on by giving you more space to work with.ijoy limitless rdta parts

At the side, there is a side filling port which is easily opened and closed to fill the 4ml tank. Overall, it feels like a pretty robustly constructed tank, and very well made.

iJoy Limitless Build Deck

The iJoy Limitless features a two post build deck, and like a few other RDTAs to recently hit the market, you can fully strip the tank down to reveal the build deck.ijoy limitless rdta part

It offers a huge amount of space to build, with large post holes aimed at accommodating thick wires.

Wicking is very simple. There are wicking holes cut out of each the corner of build deck, and you simply need to make sure your wick goes through these and down to the base of the tank.ijoy limitless rdta deck

There are pre-made twisted coils included in the spares kit that you can simply install, wick and get going.ijoy limitless rdta clapton coils

I didn’t find the performance of these to be too great so I went with my own dual Clapton coil build which I found worked far better.

How does the iJoy Limitless Perform?

Where this tank really excels, more so than the vast majority of other tanks out there, is at sheer vapor production and ridiculously sized clouds.

Forget running this under 50w, you’ll need to be putting a minimum of 50w through it to really see just how awesome this tank is at throwing out giant, thick clouds of vapor.ijoy-limitless-rdta-on-mod

Cloud chasers, this is definitely the tank for you!

Surprisingly, for such an airy tank, this is capable of some excellent flavor from your e juices.

I’d happily say it’s on par with a lot of dedicated cloud chasing RDAs, very impressive.iJoy Limitless RDTA On Vpae Box

I’ve been really happy with the performance when running my favorite ejuices through the iJoy Limitless, picking up on flavor notes I didn’t realise were there before.

It does have a 4ml tank capacity but given the amount of wick and power needed, this tank guzzles juice in no time at all.

It’s pretty much a dripper with an enlarged juice reservoir!

iJoy Limitless Airflow

Airflow on the iJoy Limitless could well be the biggest to date found on a tank.

There are two humongous cyclops airflow slots on the top cap, that are adjusted via rotating the chuff cap.ijoy limitless rdta tank

There is an incredible amount of airflow at your disposal here and this really is suited to people who cloud chase.

You need to be putting at least 50w through this to get the most out of it due to the sheer size of the airflow.

Be warned, due to the ridiculous size of the chuff cap, which spans almost the entire size of the top cap, this is an incredibly airy draw which some users may not be used to.

Once you are used to it, you’ll be producing some epic clouds!

What I Liked

The airflow is absolutely crazy on this thing and it doesn’t take much effort to produce competition level clouds. The airflow is really something to behold and it’s a lot of fun letting off some serious steam!

The airflow is large, but the flavor definitely doesn’t feel compromised. The iJoy Limitless is capable of providing some excellent flavor from your juices and I was really impressed with this.

The ability to strip the tank down to build and re-wick the iJoy Limitless makes both of those things very easy indeed. It’s forgiving and easy to build on and even inexperienced users will pick it up quickly.

Side filling is a great addition to this tank. It’s easy to fill and quick too, simply twist the fill port open at the side, fill, and close it off when done.

What I Didn’t Like

The supplied chuff cap spans almost the entire width of the chuff cap which means the draw is so airy, it’s pretty much like breathing! This may be uncomfortable for some users.

Thankfully a drip tip adapter is included if you wish to use a smaller bore drip tip.

This is strictly a dual coil tank only. There is no option here to build with a single coil.

It’s also a tank really aimed for those that like to vape at 50w and over only. I found that under this, the whole experience feels a little flat and underwhelming.

Final iJoy Limitless RDTA Review Verdict

The iJoy Limitless is a tank that can rightly lay claim to dripper level performance, in a rebuildable tank package.

The flavor and vapor are both bang on par with what you would come to expect from a rebuildable dripping atomizer, and with a tank capacity to boot that saves you having to re-drip constantly.

The airflow from this tank is really something to behold. If cloud chasing is your thing, you definitely need this tank in your life, there aren’t many other tanks out there that stand up to the phenomenal clouds this tank produces!

Hellvape Dead Rabbit RTA Review – Another Heathen Rabbit

Introduction to the Dead Rabbit RTA by Hellvape and Heathen

Today we’ll be taking a look at the Hellvape Dead rabbit RTA, the companies latest collaboration with vaping reviewer, Heathen.dead rabbit rta unboxed

As its name suggests, this is almost a companion to original Dead Rabbit RDA with the same rabbit ear style posts and top angled airflow system. Available in a variety of colours, there’s one to suit everyone’s style.

With the popularity of the Dead Rabbit RDA, there’s been a lot of buzz around this release. Will it live up to the hype? Let’s find out!

What’s in the Box?

  • 1 x 25mm Dead Rabbit RTA
  • 1 x Resin Black 810 Drip Tip
  • 1 x Stainless Steel 510 Adapter
  • 1 x Accessories Bag
  • 1 x Dead Rabbit Sticker
  • 1 x Instruction Manual

I did also receive a bubble glass, however, as this was the European version and had to comply with TPD, it was not “in the box”.hellvape dead rabbit rta packaging

Specs

  • 25mm RTA
  • Unique ‘Rabbit Ear’ design
  • Ample build space and generous post holes
  • Adjustable top side diagonal airflow
  • Single or dual coil configurations
  • Gold plated positive post for better conductivity
  • 2ml or 4.5ml juice capacity with optional bubble tank
  • Two 810 drip tip options including a black resin and a white resin design
  • Slotted or hex head post screw options
  • Protruding 510 pin and peek insulation

Available colours – Gun Metal, Purple, Black, Rainbow, Stainless Steel, Blue and Gold.Hellvape Dead Rabbit RTA Colours

Design and Build Quality

Design wise, I can’t deny that the Hellvape Dead Rabbit RTA is very pretty. The knurling on the top and bottom is not only functional but really adds to the overall look. I also like the look of the Dead Rabbit logo and text on either side of the chamber. It’s not overbranded but that little logo certainly stands out.dead rabbit rta filled

The slide in top coil deck that we previously saw in the Dead Rabbit RDA is still an absolute delight to build on and I love the way the post screws preserve your build and don’t chew up your coils the way some similar styled posts do.build deck dead rabbit rta

Cut your coil legs a little too long? Not a problem, just give them a trim once you’ve tightened up your screws.

I think 25mm is a perfect size for this RTA. Any less and you’d have trouble fitting the deck inside without restricting build size or juice capacity but if they’d gone much bigger than the overhang produced on many dual battery mods might have been off putting.

hellvape dead rabbit rta reviewI do like the screw off top cap although the fill ports are at the base of a diagonal recess which can make fast filling a little tricky at times.dead rabbit rta fill ports

The threading is all smooth once lubed up with a bit of juice and the airflow is really easy to adjust, although maybe a little too easy.

Overall design and build quality are really good but how does it vape?

How Does the Hellvape Dead Rabbit RTA Perform?

Building

Building on the Dead Rabbit RTA is very easy. You have ample build space for bigger and more complex coils and the post hole capacity doesn’t disappoint either.side view deck hellvape dead rabbit rta

I have been cutting my legs to 4mm using the Coily tool and then just raising them and angling them out towards the airflow slightly once they’re secured in place. This seems to produce best flavour overall for me.coil-install dead rabbit rta hellvape

Wicking

I won’t lie, wicking the Dead Rabbit RTA was a bit of a pain in the bum for me to begin with. I was either getting zero flavour, dry hits or the complete opposite, a mouthful of toasty warm juice.

After quite a few attempts (and some choice language) I managed to nail it with the dam method.dead rabbit rta wick dry

Measuring the cotton to just reach the wick ports and no more and just gently fluffing the cotton before simply tucking the ends under to rest on top of the wick ports has given me the best performance so far.dead rabbit rta wick wet

Flavour From the Dead Rabbit RTA

Once you nail the coil position and wicking on this, the flavour really is decent.how to fill hellvape dead rabbit rtaPersonally, I don’t feel that top airflow will ever match up to a bottom or side fed atomiser in terms of flavour but when a tank can match up to it’s RDA predecessor in terms of flavour then you can’t really grumble can you?

Single Coil

I did try this briefly in single coil mode with a 4mm tri-core fused clapton and with the airflow closed down about half way, I managed to produce ok flavour and clouds. However it really didn’t shine for me in single coil mode and there are far better performing single coil RTAs on the market.

Dual Coil

This is where we really see the true potential of the Dead Rabbit RTA.

I tried a couple of different coil variations but settled with a pair of 3mm ni80 staples and really noticed a difference in overall performance. Coming in at .1 ohms and running around 95 watts with airflow fully open produced a wonderfully saturated, warm vape that cloud chasers wouldn’t have been disappointed by and also left me the perfect amount of cotton for wicking.

For me the Dead Rabbit performs at it’s best in dual coil mode and at relatively high wattage and if you take your time to play around with builds, coil position and wicking then you can get a really satisfying experience. Oh and it’s almost impossible to make it leak thanks to that top airflow!

Pros

  • Decent flavour
  • Good cloud production
  • 4.5ml capacity with bubble glass
  • Smooth airflow
  • Good build quality
  • Easy to build on
  • Dual or single coil
  • Leak proof
  • Nice extra resin drip tip
  • Good amount of spares including a choice of hex screws or flat heads

Cons

  • Bubble glass must be purchased separately
  • If you like to ‘purge’ when you vape then prepare for a face full of vapour due to the top angled airflow
  • Can be very tricky to get wicking right
  • Once wicking well it can be ‘thirsty’

Final Review Verdict

Although I did enjoy the Hellvape Dead Rabbit RTA, I feel there should be much more wiggle room when it comes to coil position and wicking style. I could only find one combination that really gave me decent flavour and cloud producing, everything else either produced dry hits and zero flavour or complete flooding of the deck.

That being said, once you find that sweet spot, the flavour really is decent. I do wonder however if half of the people purchasing this will give up before they find its full potential.

Would I replace it if I lost it tomorrow? Probably not. Personally I prefer bottom or side airflow for flavour and the ability to purge a little and heat up my coils before I start vaping.

The Hellvape Dead Rabbit RTA is a decent tank, didn’t blow my socks off but also didn’t completely disappoint me. With time and patience it can be a solid all round performer with relatively good flavour and not much worry about leaking.

The Crown III by UWELL is coming!

The new Crown III is a 24.5 mm tank that holds a whopping 5 mL of juice. And get this: it’s currently on pre-order from EFUN.top for $19.99! There are three new colors in addition to black and stainless—rainbow iridescent, sapphire blue, and matte black—as well as 9 different drip tip colors to mix and match. It also features an improved chimney design that is supposed to minimize the potential for leaking and condensation, and there’s a new coil system.

But UWELL has made the new coil system a “plug-pull” coil swap in lieu of the threaded bullet-style heads, and there is a new airflow system to the heads. Previously there were four bottom airholes, but now there are three slots. It may seem minor, but the coil heads account for a huge percentage of how well a tank performs, and a minor tweak can make all the difference in the world.

Let’s hope these Crown 3 heads perform up to the og Crown’s status!

UWELL Crown III Specs and Features

  • 24.5mm Tank Diamenter

Game of Crowns

Uwell-crown-3

Some of you may remember when the Crown tank was the hottest thing on the market. It seems like several years ago, but it was just mid-2015. Not even a full two years. Wow!

The original 22 mm Crown was manufactured and designed well, it came with long-lasting coils that could withstand some heat, and the stainless-steel (wire) coils were the first of its kind for a sub ohm tank—they could be used in wattage or temp control mode. Back then, the Crown put out crazy good flavor and exceptional clouds. For many months, it was top dog!

But after a while, the tank started getting more negative reviews. The coil consistency started getting iffy, and then it didn’t help that SMOK captured everyone’s attention with the TFv4. Many of us just moved on from UWELL.

UWELL eventually responded with a version 2. It was a beautiful tank which met and exceeded all objective standards of the original Crown, but many felt it lacked heart… at least in the flavor department.

The Successor

Uwell-crown-3

At first glance, the Crown III doesn’t appear to be massively different from the v2, though the Crown emblem on the chimney is kinda sweet.

The main differences between this and the v2: an additional 0.5 mm to the diameter, the removal of 0.8-ohm coil heads and Ni200 coil heads, and there is now a key to unlock the top portion of the tank for easy cleaning (that should’ve been included in the second version). No mention yet on an RBA deck. There’s a new and improved chimney, and a new plug-pull coil system with updated airflow.

The “plug-pull” coil system sounds like it’s like the Vaporesso EUC coil head. This should address the problems that some vapers had with the threaded connection of the coil heads of the v2. But it remains to be seen if these new coils will catapult the Crown III back to the status that UWELL used to occupy. They say the third time is a charm. For UWELL Crown fans, let’s hope that is true.

Augvape BTFC RDA Review

Following the successful collaboration with Mike Vapes on the Intake RTA, the people at Augvape are keeping the collab. trend going, this time teaming up with VapnFagan for a 25mm RDA that’s supposed to deliver both excellent flavor and lots of vapor. Called the BTFC RDA, which stands for Bottom Top Flavor Clouds, this atomizer is supposed to be an all-in-type of device that can bring out the best flavor in an e-liquid, but also chug the vapor, thanks to multiple airflow configuration options. Let’s check it out:

 A Look at the Contents

The BTFC RDA comes in the usual Augvape packaging – a small, cylindrical cardboard box, with the company logo, BTFC name and VapnFagan’s logo on one side, and company information as well as a scratch and check authenticity sticker on the other side.

Inside this cardboard cylinder we have the BTFC RDA sitting snug in a Styrofoam holder and if you take that out you can find a small plastic bag full of accessories at the bottom of the box. There you’ll find a bunch of replacement o-rings, spare grub screws for the build deck, an Allen key and a hollow 510 pin for squonking.

I understand that Augvape wants to stand out from most of the other manufacturers by using these cylindrical boxes, but they should really make them easier to use. For example, that accessories bag at the bottom is really hard to reach, especially if you have fat, stubby fingers, so maybe make the box accessible from both the top and the bottom? I don’t know, but they should really think about some improvements.

Design and Build Quality

The Augvape BTFC RDA measures 25mm in diameter and 33mm from the bottom to the drip tip, is made primarily of stainless steel, and feels very heavy in the hand, both because of the thick barrel and the beefy build posts. You can currently find it in black, stainless steel, grey and rainbow.

On the outside, the BTFC RDA doesn’t really look very impressive, Yes it has it has the “BTFC” logo etched on one side, but I’m more into discrete branding, so I don’t find that very impressive.

At the top, we have a low-profile black Delrin drip-tip kept in place by an o-ring built into the removable top cap of the atomizer. The top cap can be rotated to adjust the top airflow which comes through two medium size holes on opposite sides. On the inside, the top cap is only slightly rounded to improve the flavor.

Apart from the obvious branding and the two airflow holes on the bottom, the barrel of the BTFC RDA isn’t anything special. It’s slightly thicker at the top, which probably adds to the overall weight of the atomizer, but that’s about all I can say about it.

At the base, we have an adjustable, gold-plated 510 pin which can be replaced with the hollow pin included in the kit.

While on the outside the BTFC RDA may not be anything to write home about, the build deck really looks very impressive, primarily because of the four beefy posts which double as air channels for the bottom airflow. It features one positive and one negative post on each side, so you can easily use it in both dual-coil or single-coil mode. All you have to pay attention to is aligning the coil(s) in such a way that the bottom airflow hits it/them directly.

The Augvape BTFC RDA has a very deep juice well, but it kind of creates the illusion that it can hold a lot of e-liquid. In reality, the four build posts take up so much space that they only leave a little space for the wicking and the juice, so the designers had no choice but to make it deeper. I’m not saying that it doesn’t hold enough juice, it does, but it just looks a lot more spacious than it really is.

Installing one or two coils on this build deck is a fairly simple affair, especially if you have some experience. All you need to do is loosen the grub screws at the top of the posts using the Allen key, slip the leads into their allotted slots, while keeping in mind that the two pairs of posts facing each other are positive-negative.

Focus On www.ave40.com For More Vape Tank.

One of the cool things about how these build posts are designed is that you can leave your coil leads as long as you like, as the excess comes out in the back of the posts and you can snip them with your wire cutters, Do make sure that the leads don’t stick out too much as they may end up touching the barrel of the RDA and cause a short circuit.

When installing coils on the BTFC RDA, keep an eye on the slightly slanted holes right under the coil lead slots. These are actually the bottom airflow holes. Air comes through the two slots on the side of the RDA, goes in through the build posts and comes out through those slanted slots. So you want your coils to be aligned in such a way that the air hits them directly. What I like about this design is that it’s hard for e-liquid to leak through the bottom airflow slots because they are located so high up.

I for one like the idea of having both bottom and top airflow, but I do feel that Augvape and VapnFagan could have done a better job designing the airflow consideration. If you want to use the BTFC with both bottom and top airflow open, that’s fine, although that’s too airy a vape for my taste. If you only vape on it with the bottom airflow open, that’s fine too, as you can easily close the top airflow by turning the top cap, but if you want to use the RDA only with side airflow, there’s a problem.

The thing is that the bottom airflow slots are cut into the barrel, so you have to turn it to close and open it. Only when the bottom airflow is closed, the barrel is no longer aligned with the coils, so neither are the top airflow slots. Air will still hit your coils, but from an angle, so it will affect both the flavor and the vapor production. I tried vaping like that for a while, and while the flavor was still pretty good, the vapor production was a lot weaker, plus I started feeling a stronger throat hit even though I was only vaping 2% nicotine e-liquid.

Unfortunately, there’s no way to fix this top airflow issue, but, on the bright side, bottom airflow is much better in my opinion anyway, especially when it comes to vapor. Still, this is a considerable con.

Conclusion

All in all, the Augvape BTFC is true to its name – it does have bottom and top airflow and offers both great flavor and clouds of vapor (depending on your build, obviously), but it’s definitely not perfect. Using the top airflow by itself doesn’t yield the best results due to the alignment with the coils, and it doesn’t really bring anything new to the table. Still, it’s a nice RDA to add to your connection, especially if your a fan of Fagan’s or if you’re in the market for a 25mm.

SMOK Spirals Plus Tank review | A Tank for Flavor Chasers

Big turbo, big love…?

If you ever thought SMOK made vaping gear only for cloud chasers, think again. The Chinese company has recently brought out the Spirals Plus tank, a slightly wider, chunkier version of the original Spirals tank. This 24.5 mm tank comes with two different coil types and a rebuildable single-coil atomizer deck (with pre-installed Clapton wire). The coils that come with the Spirals Plus tank are compatible with the original Spirals kit too. This vape tank is designed for low to mid-wattage vaping, with a definite emphasis on flavor. It sells online between $20 and $30. Let’s get down and dirty and see what SMOK can do in the flavor game, shall we?

Notable Remarks

Getting started

DRAGON-spiral-plus

SMOK packages the Spirals Plus tank with the usual attention to detail. Included in the kit are two pre-made dual-core coils, at 0.6 ohm and 0.3 ohm respectively. The coils are marked with the recommended wattage ranges as well as a “best” wattage recommendation. I’d treat these as suggestions, as other wattages may work better for you – and the e-liquid you’re vaping on.

An added plus with the Spirals Plus tank is that it comes with an RBA core. This deck is intended for single-coil builds, and comes with a Clapton wire pre-installed. The wire is held in place with two cross-head screws. In case these are too short for your wire type, the kits comes two extra sets of screws in different lengths. Spare parts include O-rings, screwdriver, and replacement tank glass.

Overall, the tank feels sturdy and well made. One of our samples has some minor threading issues with the top cap. It can be difficult to unscrew the tank while you still have e-juice inside it. Also, unscrewing the RBA core from the tank base can be a bit fiddly – the RBA housing should be firmly attached, so the core comes off in one piece.

Spirals Plus is a top-fill tank. Simply unscrew the drip tip and holder from the top of the tank and apply e-liquid into either of the large slots around the chimney. Note that this will be easier with unicorn bottles than with droppers.

How it performs

DRAGON-spiral-plus

The Spirals Plus tank is an interesting beast, in that it offers coil types with very different profiles. The 0.6 ohm coil has a much narrower inner diameter and from that you can see that it is intended for a more restricted lung hit, even MTL vaping.

After priming the coil itself, filling up the tank and waiting, I start off at around 18 W and work my way up. I’m vaping Cloud Corp’s Mereen e-liquid, a melon-infused, fruity blend, with a ratio of 70 VG/30 PG. Shout outs to Blair and Reece for the samples!

the small juice holes on the coil housing could lead to problems in wicking thicker e-liquids. And although 28 W is the recommended “best” setting for this particular coil, I start to get dry hits at this wattage. My personal sweet spot was around 23 W. At this wattage, the tank functions very well and the flavors are great. I would describe the hit as somewhere between mouth-to-lung and a restricted lung hit.

The tank has an airflow ring and four inlet holes. Sliding the ring to close off airflow closes all holes simultaneously. While this intensifies flavor and raises the temperature of the vape, the tank does whistle when airflow is closed off. This didn’t annoy me with headphones on, but expect a canine chorus if you live with dogs.

The 0.3 ohm coil has a wider inner diameter, and is more of a direct lung vape. With this coil, flavor is great, vapor is dense, almost creamy, and the clouds ain’t bad either. My favorite wattage on this coil was between 40 – 43 W and felt like the perfect marriage of flavor and vapor production. To be sure, it’s not a cloud machine, but at 40 W, what is? For the wattage that you run the Spirals Plus tank at, it certainly puts out.

Finally, the RBA core. Simply having this option is a big plus in my opinion. However, there is definite room for improvement. The deck holds a single coil in place with two cross screws. Although there are replacement screws in the kit, they all have the same size head. You’ll be able to hold a Clapton wire or similar in place, but anything thinner will be tricky without chunkier screws.

Even with the Clapton wire that was pre-installed, my ohm readings were all over the place – anything from 0.6 ohm to 0.3 ohm! This can be corrected while you have e-liquid in the tank by unscrewing the top cap and tightening the screws, but hold the tank glass down as doing this loosens the whole construction. The screws are small and fiddly, and can be easily stripped if you overtighten. Also pay attention that the end of the wires don’t extend too far out, or you risk an atomizer short.

As a final note I would add that even though the installed Clapton coil came out around 0.6 ohm for me, due to the larger e-liquid inflows the RBA can be run at a higher wattage than the 0.6 dual-core coil. I vaped on it up to 40 W with no problems. But the tank will leak if you puff into it while firing to prime the coil, so watch out for that.

Likes

  • Kit comes with 2 different coil types and an RBA core
  • Flavor is great
  • Compatible with coils from the Spirals tank
  • Coils have a good longevity

Dislikes

  • Tank whistles when closing off airflow
  • Some dry hits on the 0.6 ohm coil – pay attention to PG/VG ratio
  • RBA core screws could be bigger
  • Metering the RBA core / tweaking it can be difficult with e-juice in the tank

Verdict

The SMOK Spirals Plus tank is versatile and offers a variety of options for beginners who want to vape straight out of the box, as well as more advanced users who like to tinker. This is a tank which is long on flavor and offers different draws depending on the coil used. Some people may find the added height from the drip tip and holder irritating; it didn’t bother me personally. What I didn’t like was the way the tank whistled, and elements of the RBA core, which can be easily improved. The Spirals Plus is fairly chunky at 24.5 mm and you’ll need a similarly wide mod to avoid overhang. I would add that the 0.6 ohm coil works best with an e-liquid that has a 70/30 VG/PG ratio or lower. The 0.3 ohm coil handled a higher VG ratio without problems.

In conclusion, this is a flavor tank that does what it says on the tin. I recommend the Spirals Plus tank to anyone who’s into the flavor game and likes a low to mid-wattage vape.

VOOPOO Rune RDA Review

Do you know that VOOPOO has released Rune RDA ?

Rune rda is VOOPOO’s second RDA. If you don’t have one, let’s check the review below!

Specs:

24.6mm Diameter
Four-Terminal Postless Style Build Deck
Side Mounted Flathead Screws
Stainless Steel Plated Deck and Screws
12mm Deep Juice Well
Dual Port Bottom Feed
Interchangeable Squonk Pin
Adjustable Side Airflow
Four Bottom Air Ports
Two Per Side
4mm Wide Each
Gold Plated 510 Contact
810 Resin Drip Tip
510 Drip Tip Adapter

Design

There’s a Large build deck with four adjustable sideling airflow, the sideling airflow tubes lengthen the distance of airflow for a better flavor.

Both single coil and dual coils supported, it’s your choice.

And substantial juice wells making it suitable for both dripping and squonking.

What I love is the One-step coil insetion, which is very surprising for rda beginners.

Build Quality

The build quality of the Rune is very good. All of the Stainless Steel construction feels solid, and the threading on the 510 pin is nice and smooth. The gold-plated BF pin also feels very sturdy.

Performance

If you tried Rune rda, I believe you’ll be impressed with it’s performance.

To be honest, it may not be the best cloud chucking RDA or the most intense flavor producer, but overall it still does an excellent job at all of those aspects.

All Builds 2.5mm-4mm ID. There is room to go bigger as well, much bigger, could easily fit a 5–6mm ID but it really works best with a 3.5–4mm ID. Smaller one’s didn’t work as well and seems to lose flavor. You want your coils to cover up both air holes. Height wise, you want to drop it as low to the air as you can. The higher up the less flavor came through. Overall flavor can be really good when built correctly and just decent when not. It’s not made for a lot of wraps or small ID coils.

3 x Seal Ring

SMOK DEVILKIN WITH TFV12 PRINCE KIT REVIEW

The full SMOK Devilkin Kit review

In-Depth SMOK Devilkin Starter Kit Review

Well, it’s been about a week, so it must be time for another SMOK review, wow these manufacturers really release a lot of products to the market! So what’s so special with their Devilkin kit and is it now one of the best box mods on the market? Well, it’s a 225W dual battery mod, and at face value, it looks no different to their other mods, let’s take a closer look.

The SMOK Devilkin vs ProColor Mod Kit

Design

On the face of it, the design is very similar to the SMOK Procolor, even the screen layout is the same. It’s so annoying when a manufacturer releases a new mod, with only the slightest of changes from a previous mod.

You get a whole array of colors to choose from, including; red, rainbow, which they call prism, gold, chrome, blue, and gunmetal. That said, they are all black the only color difference is the tank and the trim on the mod.

The Devilkin mod measures in at 86mm tall, a tad less than 50mm wide and a depth of 34mm making this a little bigger overall than the original ProColor, so we guess there are some changes under the hood!

The screen is a TFT 1.3 inch with high-definition, making it really easy to read all the important info like current wattage, puff timer, the resistance of the coil, voltage, a puff counter, vape mode, and a dual battery indicator.

Below the screen is the USB port and the device has a large fire button to one side. On top is your 510 connector placed on one side and houses the TFV12 tank very well indeed.

Features

Of course, there is a bit of a difference with this mod, SMOK has introduced a new upgraded user interface. Again you get into the menu by clicking the fire button 3 times. The menu is laid out completely different to other SMOK mods, but it’s still easy to understand. To flick through the menu options just click the + button.

The menu features include variable wattage (VW) mode, here you can adjust the wattage settings. Temperature control (TC) mode where you can choose your coil from Titanium, Stainless steel or Nickel and also includes a memory mode. Moving along the settings you come to the puff settings, where you can reset the puff counter etc.

Then you come to the display settings, where you can choose the color of the screen as well as adjusting the screen timeout time.

Overall the features are pretty much the same, with a new user interface, do we prefer the new one, well to us, it’s not really that much of a big deal and certainly not worth an upgrade. They should have just released this as an alternative firmware update, not a whole new device!

TFV12 Prince Tank

The main difference between the Devilkin kit and the ProColor kit is the tank, instead of the TFV8 which comes with the Procolor you get the TFV12 Prince Tank.

It’s not really that much of a big deal as they already offer this tank on many other kits including the SMOK H-PRIV 2 and the SMOK V-FIN. You can also buy it separately, it’s not by any means a brand new designed tank especially for this mod.

That said the performance of the TFV12 Prince Tank is exceptional for a prebuilt sub ohm tank, certainly one of our top sub-ohm tank choices. You get 2 coils with the kit which are the T10 Decuple 0.12-ohm coil which is best vaped from 80-110Watts and the Q4 Quadruple 0.4-ohm coil, best vaped from 60-80Watts.

The size of the SMOK Devilkin Kit shown in hand

Performance

So using the TFV12 tank with the T10 Decuple 0.12-ohm coil and setting the Devilkin to 50 watts, the flavor is somewhat muted, this is typical of a new coil and it takes about half a tank to really let the e-liquid soak into the coil. We always like to start low in wattage mode, to allow full saturation of the cotton in the coil. There’s nothing worse than burning the cotton!

Ramping the wattage up to 80 Watts really improves the general performance of this coil. The Devilkin mod handles it really well, and changing the vape mode to high, makes the mod more responsive.

The temperature control modes on the Devilkin kit are also pretty good. Testing it out we failed to burn any of the cotton inside the coil, even when the e-liquid had completely dried out, so it’s obviously working as it should and compares well with all the best electronic cigarette models that offer this feature.

To Conclude

Overall we were a little disappointed with the SMOK Devilkin kit, nothing to do with the performance, with the TFV12 Prince tank it produces some of the best flavors you can get from a sub-ohm kit. We were disappointed with the lack of innovation. The Devilkin kit is basically the same as the ProColor, just with a new upgraded user interface.

The performance of the mod is the same; the tank has been updated to the TFV12 Prince tank (which you could buy separately) and the design is almost the same! We wouldn’t necessarily recommend this mod as an upgrade, but if your new to vaping and fancy trying a SMOK product, then this would be a great choice, after all, they are one of the best manufacturers out there.

Smok T-Priv 3 300w Box Mod Review

Smok TPriv 3 300w box review

Smok is stepping up its T-Priv game with a major update to the popular mod. While the all-new T-Priv 3 doesn’t bring a lot of aesthetic design changes to the original mod, under the hood it’s a whole new beast that promises to bring even the most hardcore vaper to their knees. The Smok T-Priv 3 brings a mind-blowing 300 watts of pure vaping power to the field, made possible with the help of 3 18650 batteries locked away in its solid zinc alloy chassis.

While you might be tempted to think that the Smok T-Priv 3 is all brawns and no brain, it also supports the full gamut of vaping modes such as temperature control for all TC coils, a customizable TCR function, and adjustable pre-heat options. The Smok T-Priv 3 is also firmware upgradeable via its micro USB port so future refinements to the already great UI is very likely.

The Smok T-Priv 3 uses a top mounted OLED screen making it easy to view your mods status even as you’re vaping. The UI is highly customisable allowing you to choose what info is constantly displayed, not to mention it also sports a dual battery indicator giving you more information on the status of each battery at any given time. The high-quality firing bar is satisfyingly clicky with a strong tactile response, so you’ll always feel in control of your vape, and that extends to the up/down buttons as well.

Like most of Smok’s premium devices, the Smok T-Priv 3 kit comes packaged with the TFV12 Prince. Featuring a 5ml e-liquid capacity with the option to use an extension to reach a max e-liquid capacity of 8 whopping milliliters of e-liquid, you’ll hardly find the need to refill more than once a day. Bundled in the kit are Smok’s own decuple and sextuple coil heads, guaranteeing maximum vapor production as well as intense flavors with every puff.

The TFV12 Prince tank that comes with the kit is a great addition as well thanks to its smooth airflow design and high e-liquid capacity that doesn’t require a lot of refills. The customisable RGB settings are just the added icing on the cake as they’re definitely implemented well enough to please any RGB loving vaper out there.
